Significance of the Jaanch Bone and Muscle Health Panel
Bone health depends on more than the amount of calcium in the blood. Vitamin D, parathyroid hormone, phosphorus, and magnesium take part in calcium absorption and regulation, while albumin carries a considerable portion of the calcium circulating in the bloodstream. The Jaanch Bone and Muscle Health Panel combines these measurements with CK-MB, myoglobin, serum proteins, and a complete hemogram.
Vitamin D Total, D2 and D3
The profile reports Vitamin D Total along with separate Vitamin D2 and Vitamin D3 values. Vitamin D Total is the principal result used to assess vitamin D status. The separate D2 and D3 results show the contribution from each form of vitamin D, including vitamin D obtained from sunlight, food and supplements.
Vitamin D is necessary for normal calcium absorption. A low result can therefore be significant even when the blood calcium level remains within its reference range.
Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium and Intact PTH
Calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium take part in bone mineralisation, nerve activity and normal muscle contraction. Their blood levels are closely regulated, particularly by parathyroid hormone and vitamin D.
Intact PTH provides important information for an abnormal calcium result. Reading calcium, PTH, phosphorus, magnesium, and vitamin D together shows whether the abnormality occurs with low vitamin D, an altered PTH level, or another mineral imbalance that requires further evaluation.
Albumin, Globulin and Total Protein
A considerable portion of the calcium circulating in the blood is attached to proteins, mainly albumin. For this reason, an albumin result is useful when total calcium is interpreted, particularly when the albumin level is low or high.
Total protein, globulin and the A/G ratio also provide information about the balance of the major proteins in the blood. Changes in these results can occur with nutritional deficiencies and several liver, kidney or inflammatory conditions.
CK-MB and Myoglobin
CK-MB is an enzyme found mainly in heart muscle, with smaller amounts present in skeletal muscle. Myoglobin is a protein found in both heart and skeletal muscle. Their levels can rise when muscle tissue has been injured.
These results do not measure muscle strength or muscle mass. Recent strenuous exercise, trauma, injections or medical procedures can influence them, so any such history should be considered while interpreting an increased value.
Complete Hemogram
Tiredness, weakness, and reduced physical capacity are not always caused by vitamin D or mineral deficiency. The 30-parameter complete hemogram checks hemoglobin, red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and their indices.
It can identify blood-count abnormalities, such as anemia, that can also cause fatigue or weakness. Including the CBC helps prevent these symptoms from being attributed only to vitamin D or mineral deficiency.
Understanding the Panel as a Whole
The value of this profile lies in the relationship between its results. Calcium is interpreted with albumin and PTH; vitamin D is considered with calcium and phosphorus; CK-MB and myoglobin are considered with recent activity or injury; and the hemogram checks whether a blood-count abnormality may be contributing to fatigue or weakness.
An abnormal value does not always identify the cause by itself. The complete pattern is more informative than treating each result as an isolated finding.

How is the Jaanch Bone and Muscle Health Checkup different from Thyrocare’s Basic and Advanced Bone Profiles?
Thyrocare’s Basic Bone Profile concentrates on bone mineral metabolism. It includes alkaline phosphatase, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, Vitamin D Total, and intact PTH. The Advanced Bone Profile contains the same six tests and adds magnesium, copper, uric acid, Vitamin B12, RA Factor, ANA, and Anti-CCP. It is therefore more suitable when bone-mineral testing is required along with arthritis antibodies and additional vitamins and minerals.
The Jaanch Bone and Muscle Health Checkup concentrates on tests relevant to musculoskeletal health only. Along with calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and intact PTH, it reports Vitamin D Total, Vitamin D2, and Vitamin D3 separately. It also includes CK-MB, myoglobin, serum proteins, and a complete hemogram.
It does not include alkaline phosphatase, zinc, copper, uric acid, Vitamin B12, RA Factor, ANA, or Anti-CCP. The appropriate profile depends on the exact tests required.
